Nigel in the Windy City

Emma Here…

As we all know, last Friday was Halloween.

My friend from Chicago, Nigel, has been begging for a Doggy Desk Midwest Corespondent position. I finally gave him his big break.

The Assignment: Report back on the 2008 Halloween Trends in the Midwest.

Nigel was thrilled. He had camera in paw and was raring to go.

What was supposed to happen: Nigel was dressed as a Pig Herder. He was part of a couple’s outfit. His partner, Sweet Vivi!, was dressed as a pig.

What happened: Nigel ate his pig he was supossed to carry. See evidence to the right.

Grabbed a pillow and took a nap.

Mr. Nigel, I don’t know if you are at the corespondent level yet. Let’s start off as an intern to the interns. Whatcha think?

Mom’s Away… I will lay

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Mom is off in California or what i like to call la-la-land. I figured i didnt have to work since she was away. Instead I decided the couch would be mine. This is what Pop-Pop found when he came home.

Today I will try and get some more pillows.

Darcy in the Doghouse

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Tater is right. I have been absent from work and from Doggy Desk for weeks. I apologize to all my fans. I have let the team down, especially Tater. Tater has been carrying the team. He might even deserve a promotion…

This afternoon has been tough. Getting back into the groove of daily work is tough! And Darcy didnt make it better. She taunted me. And I know I heard her whisper something under her breath. She denied saying anything. I didnt believe her.

This is what happens when Darcy taunts me. Darcy gets gutted and then used as a pillow. I am still deciding if she will go to the Doggy Desk Hospital or not.

Greatest American Dog?

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I had to find out what all the hype was about. Have you heard of “The Greatest American Dog”?

In case you haven’t, this is what it is straight from the website:

Twelve extraordinary teams of dogs and owners from across the nation from “pageant dogs” to those simply trained at home, will live together and compete against each other in challenges that put the owners’ ability to train their dogs to the test. Each week, the judges will eliminate one dog and their owner. The last remaining team will walk away with a $250,000 cash prize and the title of GREATEST AMERICAN DOG

The show had over 9 million viewers the first show. Everyone loves a dog show. And after watching it so does my mom… The verdict is still out for me.

Tonight the dogs had to compete to see who had the most courage. The Dogs were strapped to a zip line 30 feet in the air and they had to jump into thin air. NO THANK YOU!

But i do love Travis and Presley pictured below.

Weekending in the Hamptons

Monday, August 18th, 2008

This weekend my friend, Chris, turned 40. To celebrate he invited his closest friends AND puppies out to the island to enjoy a weekend of drinking wine, swimming, cooking, and chasing a large pink soccer ball.

My dad bought me this soccer ball just for the occassion. I was so excited the entire 3 hours in the car. I couldn’t wait to get to the country and play soccer.

WELL….

When we arrived there was another little furry friend of mine, Hazel. She has to be the smallest Boston Terrier around. Sometimes people mistake her for a bunny because when she runs she hops like a bunny. (that’s another post and I will have to get a video)

This is Hazel. She is a cartoon character. This is the picture of her chasing after my ball…

My Dad and I started playing soccer. I was running around the yard, kicking the ball with my paws, jumping into the bushes to retrieve the ball. I was having a ball! Then, Miss Hazel decided she wanted to play. Hazel is so tiny and so FAST. I had no chance in keeping up with her. Hazel stole my ball. In fact my Dad gave Hazel my ball when we left on Sunday. I am not happy with him!

Since my ball was gone I accepted the fact that I would lounge by the pool. It was wonderful because Harry (a Cardigan Corgie) made the best martini’s. And he served them poolside.

Sunday came too soon and then Monday arrived. I’m asking Mom and Dad for a country house for Christmas, not another blue ring.

Until next time… Back to the Monday Work Day

Lost, Now Found and other thoughts

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I have some big news. We found Bubbles in Chicago! It is a real doggie miracle. After three days of roaming the streets of Chicago a wonderful woman saw one of the lost and found signs and called. He is getting picked up tonight. I am going to have to have a real dog-to-dog discussion on the rules of playing in the yard. Until then… Welcome Back Bubbles!

Now on to some work issues around the office. I received an email from Tater asking why am I allowed to work from home. The answer is: just because I am not in the office, does not mean I am lounging around the house popping Vosges Haut Chocolat bonbons. Don’t I wish! Being involved in public relations means that I have to be out networking and staying on top of current trends. Today, I had a conference call with a Los Angeles client, Truman. Truman and I discussed the Fall 2008 trends. More to come on the trends in my next post. Until then, check out Truman.

My little nephew, Bubbles, crawled under the fence at his home in Chicago. Now we cannot find him. it has been 2 days. I have attached the poster here. Please send to all your Chicago friends. His Momma is very very sad. Bubbles was her best friend at home.

Please Help!

Woof! Woof!

procrastination

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Around this time I become a true procrastinator. End of July when everyone is taking vacation and basking in the sun, I am at the office thinking about the Holidays. I start sending out all of my clients Holiday Gift Guide items for Magazines. I send Vosges chocolate, Spoon small batch jams, Giftcorp baskets (all gourmet food items). I start surfing my other favorite blog, www.whippedtheblog.com. My mind wanders and I begin thinking about what I want for the Holidays.

Here is “Emma’s Favorite Gifts for the Holidays…or NOW” (hint…hint…hint…)

1. Lucite Dog Bed - I am requesting a custom size for my round rump.

Number One Item!

2. Dog Bowl and Pedestal - Needs to be larger for all the food and water I consume

3. Toys Toys Toys…. Anything and Everything

4. Fashion - I like this for Early Fall

5. LOVE GLOVE!!!!!!

Sowing the seeds of love.

Whats up guys, its your boy Bruiser checking in from Doggy Desk’s fish bowl. Hows the air out there? The water temp is a nice luke warm 75 degrees in here. Any Betta Betty’s out there care to join me for a dip?

So here is the deal, we decided at the Doggy Desk to split into 3 teams and try out our green thumbs. (Do any of us even have thumbs?) Anyways we planted our seeds on Tuesday last week and they sprouted over the weekend! Check them out below:

Team Tomato\'s sprouts

I was worried Dagny’s team would have the edge with her being a plant everything but nope! Emma and I may leave this corporate world and become farmers with the way things are looking!

Our set up is pretty cool. We got an Earth BoxMiracle Grow potting soil, some tomato plant seeds and now we are in business. Not sure how the others are doing but I think you really can’t beat the Mastiff/Betta combo. Team Tomato Rules!!!

Summer Fridays

Sharing the Bed

At the office during the summer we have what you call “Summer Fridays”. This means that we come in around 10 and we get to leave at 1 to start our weekend adventures. We do this from Memorial Day to Labor Day. After Labor Day since we don’t have Summer Fridays we start back up with 4 pm Champagne Fridays, but that’s for another post.

Today I decided to start my Summer Friday at 9 am after a night out at Mary’s Fish Camp and a bottle of Rose Wine with friends. I am starting to decorate my new apartment and I need to find the perfect bed. Not too small but not too big. Not too soft and not too hard. And of course it must go with Mom and Dad’s decor. This seems to always be the problem. They just do not make beautiful modern dog beds for what I like to refer to the larger more voluptious breeds like me.

I found one at Design Within Reach but it won’t fit my round rump. I am sending this out to all the larger dogs and need help finding this. If you know of any great puppy beds just for me - send them my way. I haven’t been sleeping well because my Dad seems to think the Queen size bed is his. Can you believe that one?!?

Oh and as you can see from the photo. The bed needs to be large enough so I can have sleepovers with Tater.
