The Art of Racing in the Rain
Hi! Mickey here. I’d like to propose a book club for us doggy deskers. This is a great first read: The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. The narrator is Enzo, an old dog who tells a great story about life’s tribulations as only us dogs could! He believes that when we die, we can come back as humans (I’m not sure about that-I’m content with just going to heaven)!- but his whole purpose is to be ready to come back as a man- so he observes and listens…Enzo- a doggy philosopher with a nearly human soul.
Here’s an excerpt for you…
“I close my eye and listen vaguely in a half sleep as he does the things he does before he sleeps each night. Brushing and squirting and splashing. So many things. People and their rituals. They cling to things so hard sometimes.”
